Finished: Stockings!

I finished my Norwegian stockings! They ended up taking me about a week to finish not counting a few breaks in between that I took to work on other projects. I ended up using 5 balls of Falk Dalegarn in Natural, Tan, and Cyclamen knitted up on size 3 dpns.

Overall, it was a pretty easy knit..they only problem I had with the pattern was picking up stitches on each side of the stockings after making the gussets...they came out looking quite loose and messy. Other than that, the pattern was fun and easy to follow. I LOVED this pattern, and now that I've finished knitting my first pair of socks, I think I've become addicted...I'm already thinking of what colors I want my second pair of stockings to be done in.

Those are awesome for your 1st socks AND your 1st fair-isle knitting! Good job! I totally want to knit knee socks, too. Did you have to sew elatic into the tope to get them to stay up?

Very nice! I love the colors you chose!I'm currently working on these as my first pair of socks too. Quick question, how well do they fit? I started mine on the recomended #3's, but they seemed to be a bit on the loose side. I'm wondering if I should go smaller, or if the loose fit is just my imagination. :)

Thanks for all of the nice comments :) Amy...my socks fit pretty snuggly. I knit them pretty tight so it may just be me. I think that Jess and Eunny who also knitted these used size 2 needles instead

Hi Morgan, I'm Margo Mensing's friend/colleague from SAIC and the Fabric Workshop. Your blog is great! Keep going, and keep exploring ways to interweave your knitting projects with other areas of your life on your blog. Take a look at my friend Wendy Goldstein's blog www.knitandthecity.blogspot.com. She's a mad knitter, a major Public Defender for the City of Philadelphia (she steams in the courtroom), and a marvelous comic writer who incorporates all aspects of her life in her blog (check out her mother's chicken soup recipe). Wendy's just developed an auxiliary blog called Wendy on the Red Carpet, which you can link to from her primary blog. She's giving Oscars for knitting.

I WANT YOUR STOCKINGS!!!! I give you envious congratulations. I'm working on a post about my recent knitting projects, so keep checking www.synaesthetica.blogspot.com. Meanwhile I must stay chained to my oar at the Fabric Workshop--alas, blogging is not part of my day job! I'll add your blog to my blogroll.
Best wishes and hi to Margo,
Merrill

I'll try to tell you about linking to other blogs sometime this weekend. Am at work right now, with deadlines looming and a Fred Tomiselli lecture tonight.

Hi Morgan, Here's how I figured out how to add links to my blog, have a blogroll in the margin, etc--- I look it all up in a great, simple book written specifically for bolgger.com: "Publishing a Blog with Blogger" by Elizabeth Castro, pub. Peachpit Press. It's designed as part of their "Visual QuickProject" series. I would never have figured out how to do ANYTHING on my blog without it. I ordered it from Amazon.com. Good luck, and I'll keep checking your blog.

Wow! You are a talented knitter. I can't wait to send a friend to see your socks. I'm working on my first pair using the Magic Loop technique - knitting on one circular needle. I'm definitely hooked on knitting socks.
